I'll make this announcement short and sweet.


As an active GameSyn member you are not above anyone else even if they just joined. As a server admin you are not above anyone else in the server.

If community members and server admins continue to try and make themselves to be better than someone else because they haven't been here as long or they are just a player then our community will never grow. You are not above them, you merely have different ways of dealing with potential problems.


As for the tags... When you opt to wear the GameSyn tag you are agreeing to the be nicest person ever even when other people are being stupid. The tag gives you no special immunity or powers. It's only purpose is to spread the fun and joy of being apart of GameSyn so other people see it. When you act up then people see the tag and think "Wow GameSyn people are immature". That's not what we want as a community.


As a final note since this isn't short anymore. No one is above anyone else. You can be punished for your immaturity on the servers and forums.

Seniority, while it does seem tempting to show off, is really no grounds to behave differently than a new member. Admins may have more rights, but they aren't prestigious; it just means we are the ones that deal with the riffraff.

Don't take my comments as truth, this is just my way of interpreting asceth's point. Hopefully I didn't get it horribly wrong and misconstrued.

Honestly, I have to say that if I ever see a server admin giving off the elitist vibe, I feel a certain obligation to bring them down to size whether I have admin or not. People who raise themselves above others really have no place being administrators in the first place.

I believe Ranma said this on another thread: Admins should act like a normal player until someone who breaks the rules comes along then admins switch to "Admin Mode".

Yes, that's something Tiki taught me.

But this doesn't just go for admins. We have also had problems with members that wear our tag in game. So this goes for everyone. No one has special immunity from poor behavior, including myself, and I've been here almost as long as Dman.

Seniority means jack in this community. Please don't misbehave.

Only time I'll use seniority to put someone down, it was when that person was putting someone down due to their seniority over them. I've never seen this happen in GSyn though.

Yes I follow ranma's way too. Only time I feel above my fellow players is when people say "Hey, its Yoohoo the admin!" I try my hardest to be patient with fairly new players or players that don't understand, I try to make a fun and safe environment for the players on the server. But I do need more experience and practice makes perfect.

I always act normal if nothing is kicking off, but I disallow the use of annoying sounds and music when I'm on unless people are very nice and I'm in a good mood to listen to them and laugh (seriously but I might stop this). Whenever I join an almost full server on ZM, I usually see the words of "Hey its abbott" or "Yo abbott" by the people who know me on it. If I catch a griefer, say somebody came on called N***** Pig and started griefing and mic spamming then I would equip my hammer and start dealing with them since they are breaking rules and they have a racist name. If he fails to respond to the normal warning and the csay warning, then I either slay him if hes alive or silence him. Once I unsilence him and he continues, I will kick him. If he returns and continues but even worse, I have to kick again since I can't temporary ban him.

With the who is above who, I personally do it like this (without players):

1. GameSyn Admins
2. Root Admins
3. Normal Admins
4. Junior Admins who have just started.

I do it like this because if I have a problem and I'm stuck or something like that then I can ask one of the Root Admins or GameSyn Admins and sort it out and if a Junior Admin asked for help or does something wrong like experiment with powers then I can tell him that is wrong and stuff.

This is just my personal crap so some of you might disagree.
