Basically as the title says whenever I try to launch steam it lately seems to just freeze up my computer. It was after I installed playxpert so I uninstalled that yet the problem persists.

Specs:
4gb of ram ddr2
amd antholon 3800+
nvdia evga 7950 GTKO

What's odd is that it just came up for no reason I think I might try to uninstall steam and reinstall it. But I need to backup all the files on my external hard drive.

Vista or XP? Also it just may just do it good to reinstall.

PlayXpert was ... strange to my computer too. I uninstalled it before my entire screen froze.

I already had to format my comp because I had a registry error that I couldn't fix that made my computer keep restarting. So I'm going to reinstall steam tonight and see how that goes.
